Bob and Del return with another fun session involving all and old seasonal utensils, from Grandfather’s old box.
Thursday 26th February: The Work of a Master Thatcher – David Wood
Based on decades of expetience & practice; Staffordshire Master Thatcher, David introduces the craft cf thatching and its current importance.
Thursday 26th March: The Life and Times of Mary Attenborough – Richard Graves
Leicester author, Richard tells the life story of Mary Clegg, daughter of Samuel Clegg the first Headmaster of Long Eaton Grammar, Sawley born mother of Richard & David Attenborough and Civil Liberties campaigner
Thursday 23rd April: Oversears of the Poor in the 18-19th Centuries – John Barnett
John presents and explains how support for the needy was provided “The Poor Law 1780 – 1835”
Thursday 28th May: In Search of Britain’s Oldest Pubs – Dr James Wright FSA
A boozy exploration by renowned Nottingham archaeologist, tracing their origins through the architecture.

Thursday 24th September:The Romans at the Confluence – Dr Jane Ainsworth
From Leicester University School of Archaeology, Jane brings “everyday life on the confluence” of the Trent, Soar and Derwent. How Sawley was the crossing to Derby and has a fort!
Thursday 22nd October: Their Names Will Live On – Andy Smart
A talk based on the Nottingham author’s book about unsung war heroes from WW1 to Afghanistan. Stories that have the power to chill, bringa tear to a glass eye and raise a smile. An apt topic for forthcoming Remembrance Day.
Thursday 26th November – The Pilgrim Fathers (16 – 17th Centuries) – Adrian Grey MA
Adrian, a Cambridge historian, asks the big question,“why did they came from here?” A story of the local separatist movement and their reaction against repression, resulting in local Puritans emigrating to Europe and America.
